Description
The Housing Authority of Savannah (HAS) is seeking a highly qualified Director of Assisted Housing Programs to lead and manage its Housing Choice Voucher Program. HAS is authorized 3438 Housing Choice Vouchers (includes Tenant-based / EHV, PBVs, PBVs under RAD, Mod Rehab and SPC) as well as its remaining portfolio of 898 Public Housing units, 898 LIHTC units with PBRA, and 163 Project-based Vouchers. The agency operates with an annual budget of $49 million and reserves of $20 million. HAS programs are administered by a staff of 91 and governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners. The agency SEMAP score is 100. The Director of Assisted Housing reports directly to the Executive Director.
Savannah is the oldest city in Georgia having been established in 1733 and is the largest historically restored urban area in the U.S. The City has a national reputation and significance for its architecture, history, and Southern charm and hospitality. Savannah attracts millions annually for its cobblestone streets, 22 public park squares, and six historic districts that includes the largest National Historic Landmark District in the U.S. It is knows as the “Hostess City of the South” and the “Forest City” for its abundance of oak trees. The community also has a rich and growing performing arts and culture venues. With its Savannah River and Ogeechee River flows to the Atlantic Ocean, Savannah is the fourth largest port for shipping traffic in the U.S. Savannah is the third largest metropolitan area in Georgia with a population of 432,000 in 2024.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Urban Affairs, Accounting, Sociology, Psychology or closely related fields is required and a Master’s Degree in such fields is preferred. Applicants should also have a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible leadership and management experience in public housing, HCV programs, tax credit housing, assisted apartment management, or local government housing. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the responsibilities of the position may be considered. Certifications in HQS Inspections, Income, Rent, and HCV Program Administration are required or must be completed within the first year of employment (training and tests at HAS expense). The salary compensation range is $106,098 to $163,391, depending on the qualifications and experience of the chosen candidate. HAS is an equal opportunity employer.
